Kia's MY2027 Niro refresh drops the EV and PHEV, leaving the gas-electric Hybrid as the sole Niro powertrain going forward. Dean McCrary Kia continues to service every existing Niro EV with genuine parts and factory-trained technicians — the routine schedule below still applies.
2023 — New Generation
2nd-Gen Niro EV Launches With a 64.8 kWh Battery New Gen
The second-generation Niro EV brought a 64.8 kWh battery, a 201-hp motor, and roughly 253 miles of range, on a multi-platform architecture shared with the gas and hybrid Niro rather than Kia's dedicated E-GMP EV platform. With no combustion engine, maintenance is minimal — tire rotation and inspection every 8,000 miles, a cabin air filter, brake fluid, and periodic checks of the battery-thermal coolant loop; no oil changes and no ignition system to service. The reduction gear is inspected via a dip-check at the fill plug rather than run on a scheduled oil change.
