The Defect
A wiring harness built too short
Due to a manufacturing error at a supplier, the wiring harness serving the side air bags was produced too short on certain 2023 Tellurides. Routine second-row seat adjustment or folding can stretch and damage the harness — and a damaged harness can keep the side air bags from deploying when they’re needed most. Kia reported no known crashes or non-deployments from this defect at the time of the recall.
